Refining Our Breeding Operation

From 2008 we have selected Sires for our AI programs to achieve high indexing progeny with balanced traits while maintaining average birth weight EBVs. These Sires were widely used and assisted in achieving higher accuracies with our Breedplan data. We also scanned all retained bulls and heifers to establish the value of carcase traits within our herd. We conducted an AI program with 35 spring calving cows.

2009 – We scanned 75% of the progeny to establish the value of carcase traits in our herd. We conducted an AI program with 38 spring calving cows.

2010 – We scanned 75% of the progeny to establish the value of carcase traits in our herd. We conducted an AI program with 38 spring calving cows.

2011 – We scanned 92% of the progeny to establish the value of carcase traits in our herd. We conducted an AI program with 47 spring calving cows.
